Tying the Non-Slip Mono Loop Knot

This fishing knot works well with heavier leaders

While not a particularly strong knot, the Non-Slip Mono Loop is very easy to tie and performs extremely well with heavier leader material (20-pound-plus). A major benefit of using a loop knot is that it allows a lure, fly or bait to move more freely, which may make it appear more natural to a game fish.

1. Tie an overhand knot in the leader. Pass the tag end through the eye of the hook or lure and back through the overhand knot.

2. Take four turns around the standing part of the leader with the tag end.

3. Pass the tag end back through the overhand knot.

4. Lubricate the knot with saliva and draw it tight by pulling on the standing part of the leader.
