N.J. anglers urged to push for reef bill

Anglers urged to push for reef bill

The effort to pass legislation that would protect New Jersey artificial reefs from potters was derailed at the end of last year's legislative session when Assembly Speaker Joe Roberts (D-Camden) wouldn't post the bill for a vote though the companion bill was approved in the Senate without a dissenting vote. In order to avoid the last minute rush this year, Reef Rescue urges anglers to ask Assemblyman Douglas Fisher of Bridgeton (856 455-1011 phone, or fax 973 731-6770) to hold a hearing on A-1519 as soon as possible. Senate President Richard Codey (D-West Orange) posted last year's bill up for the successful passage in that body, and should be urged to do so again with Senate S336. Codey's phone number is 856 455-1011, and his fax is 973 731-6770.
