Plotting the Hatch

While center consoles are great for fishing, they often suffer from a lack of storage space. Many manufacturers don’t take advantage of the potential for usable storage in the console itself. I created space for fishing tackle by mounting a four-drawer storage compartment made of StarBoard in the front of the console. Next to that, I installed a hatch to allow access to a shelf made of marine-grade plywood. These hatches come in a variety of sizes that will allow boat owners to build storage space into almost any console. And they still allow us to use the back cushion for the cooler seat on those days when we need more seating.
