Numerous anglers fishing from Tropic Star Lodge in Pi¿as Bay, Panama, caught 1,257 Pacific sailfish on 1,883 strikes during the week of June 8-15. The catch is a lodge record for the most sailfish caught and released in one week. The previous record was set during the week of April 28 to May 3 with 1,016 sails released. Most of the fish were caught on Panama strip baits rigged with circle hooks and fished on 12- to 16-pound-test line.
