Texas Center Console Shootout set for July 25-27

Dolphin, tuna and wahoo are the targets in this new tournament out of Surfside Beach, Texas.

Calling all Texas center console fishermen!

Surfside Marina, of Surfside Beach, Texas, will host a brand new tournament this summer. It's called the Texas Center Console Shootout, presented by Pelagic. The event will be held July 25-27, 2013 and will offer cash prizes for the largest dolphin, tuna and wahoo caught from center console boats. In addition to the three gamefish divisions, there will also be a bonus swordfish category (but that’s separate from the general tournament).

Each gamefish division (tuna, dolphin and wahoo) will count equally toward determining the winner of the Shootout, with the heaviest two fish from each species going toward the team’s scores. The team with the highest two-day point total will be crowned the Texas Center Console Shootout Champions.

It’s going to be a good old-fashioned laid-back fishing tournament with minimal rules and hassles, says Sherry Harmon, Marina Director.

The entry fee is just $500 per boat, with optional jackpots to further increase the prize purse. There will be an estimated $50,000 in cash and prizes on the line based on 50 participating vessels. The event will kick off with final registration and a mandatory captain’s meeting Thursday, July 25th from 5-8 p.m.

Surfside Marina, a new dealer for Invincible Boats, is located on the Intracoastal Waterway near the Freeport Jetties in Surfside Beach, Texas. Visit their website for additional details about the tournament.
