South Florida’s Team Rezkill wins Islamorada Dolphin Tournament

Sixty-four anglers on 13 boats competed in the unique tournament

ISLAMORADA, Florida Keys — Team Rezkill took first place and the $6,000 first prize at the third annual Islamorada Dolphin Tournament that ended June 5 at Whale Harbor Marina.

Among hundreds of reported schoolie dolphin, Coral Gables, Fla., teammates Luis Perez, Mike Walker, Ryan Smith, Ryan Smith Jr., Ray Ragolta and Audie LimSang weighed in three beauties totaling 63.7 pounds for the win. Their catch included a 26-pounder that was the tournament’s largest fish.

A family of anglers from Goulds, Fla. — Don, David, Robert and Rich DeLeon — placed second on the Contagious. Scoring dolphin with a combined weight of 61.7 pounds, the team received $2,000.

The third-place prize of $1,000 was awarded to team Game Hunter, whose three fish weighed in at 38.7 pounds. Two Naples, Fla., families — Zoe, Chase, Charlie and Darlene Bertucci, and Anthony, Brynn and Brooke DelDuca — fished as a team.

Sixty-four anglers on 13 boats competed in the unique tournament, whose rules mandate that only two fish per team can be weighed in each day, although three are required to place in the standings.

Thirty-two fish were weighed in during the two-day tournament.
