N.J. holding the line on blackfish regulations - for now

The N.J. Marine Fisheries Council is holding off taking action to further tighten its blackfish regulations in order to comply with the 25.5.6 % cut required by the ASMFC, which recently voted New Jersey out of compliance. The state is waiting for the Secretary of Commerce to make his determination that could lead to a recreational closure if he won’t accept New Jersey’s contention that restrictions in place last year had the required effect. New York tightened their tautog regulations prior to the February ASMFC meeting in order to avoid being voted out of compliance.
