Mississippi gag, black and red grouper season closes March 1

The Mississippi Department of Marine Resources (DMR) has announced the closing of the commercial and recreational fishing season for Gag, Black and Red Grouper in Mississippi territorial waters, effective Saturday, March 1, 2008 at 12:01 a.m. The fishery will reopen Saturday, March 15, 2008  at 12:01 a.m.

The closing of the commercial and recreational Gag, Black and Red Grouper fishing season is issued under the authority of Section 49-15-15 (1) (a) of the Mississippi Code of 1972, and order of the Mississippi Commission on Marine Resources.

The Mississippi Department of Marine Resources is dedicated to enhancing, protecting and conserving marine interests of the State by managing all marine life, public trust wetlands, adjacent uplands and waterfront areas to provide for the optimal commercial, recreational, educational and economic uses of these resources consistent with environmental concerns and social changes.
