Photos taken mostly during the 1920's through the 1940's by acclaimed Louisiana biologist and conservationist, Percy Viosca, are now available for viewing online. Some 1100 of Viosca's images of rural and coastal Louisiana were salvaged by LSU AgCenter Extension agent Mark Schexnayder and were scanned by the Hill Memorial Library at LSU. A native of New Orleans, Viosca (b.1892 d.1961) received his bachelors and masters degrees from Tulane University and was later honored by having a section of the Federal waters of the Gulf of Mexico east of the Mississippi River Delta named for him - "Viosca Knoll".
