Historic Great Exuma, Bahamas hosts third stop in Redbone at Large Bahamas Celebrity Bonefish Series

Redbone

Exuma was settled in 1783 by American loyalists who were anxious to flee the Revolutionary War. Chances are good that anglers in the upcoming Exuma Classic would agree that if you’re going to flee a war, this Bahaman district that consists of over 360 islands would make a rather exemplary destination.

The district of Great Exuma – and the town of George Town in particular – is hosting the Exuma Classic May 16-19. The Exuma Classic is the third stop on the 2008 Redbone @ Large Bahamas Celebrity Bonefish Series, and is part of the Redbone @ Large Celebrity Tournament Series. The event is one of approximately 30 Redbone Celebrity tournaments that are held each year, with all proceeds benefiting the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF). Redbone events raised $1,568,000 in 2007 alone, and have raised more than $11 million in 20 years.

Other stops in the Redbone @ Large Bahamas Celebrity Bonefish Series include the Deep Water Cay Spring Bonefish Classic (Feb. 8-11), the Marsh Harbour Classic (April 11-14) and the Deep Water Cay Fall Bonefish Classic (Nov. 21-24).
