The recreational halibut fishery closes in the northern nearshore area of Marine Area 2 end of day Friday, June 8. Marine areas 3 and 4, which have been closed to halibut fishing since June 2, will reopen for one more day of fishing on June 14.

The closures, according to Heather Reed, biologist with the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, are due to anglers being expected to reach the halibut quota for the area.

The rest of Marine Area 2 is already closed to halibut fishing.
