Fishing and diving groups team up for series of free Southern California “MLPA 101” seminars

Goal to increase public understanding of Marine Life Protection Act process and implementation

United Anglers of Southern California (UASC) and sport diver’s organization LA Fathomiers are teaming up to provide local anglers and other water users with a better understanding of the Marine Life Protection Act (MLPA) and its impending implementation in California coastal waters.

“It’s our goal to help anglers and the general public gain a better grasp of this complex, sometimes confusing issue,” said Steven Fukuto, UASC President.  “We’re doing this by presenting the information at hand in a clear, concise manner, using plain talk.  We want people to walk away from this event understanding the challenges before us, what the recreational fishing community is doing and how we can work together to be able to fish in the future.  We encourage everybody who’s interested in the future of fishing to attend.”

Dates for these free, approximately two-hour seminars are:
