Two recent extensions of the Gulf of Mexico red snapper season give anglers additional opportunity to fish for one of the Gulf’s most popular species.
NOAA Fisheries has announced a supplemental red snapper season in Federal water in the Gulf of Mexico. The fall season will begin October 1, 2013, at 12:01 a.m. (one minute after midnight), local time and run through October 15, 2013, at 12:01 a.m., local time.
Additionally the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission has announced an additional season in Florida State waters, which extend nine miles from shore. The Florida season will run October 1 through October 21.
Bag limits during the special seasons in both Florida and Federal waters will remain at two fish, minimum 16 inches, per angler per day.
