We had a look at the new Simrad VHF radio — the RS35 — at the Miami International Boat Show yesterday. This VHF packs a lot features into an innovatively priced package. The 25-watter is NEMA 2000 compliant and incorporates an AIS Class B receiver, all for $399. Up to two remote handsets can be used with it ($169 each) offering full control of the radio and a screen that shows operational data and AIS targets in the vicinity. The attached fist mic has its own set of control buttons, and even a little speaker for easier listening when the ambient gets loud.
