Hogarth to Head National Marine Fisheries Service

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) announced that Dr. William T. Hogarth has been appointed Assistant Administrator of the agency by Secretary of Commerce Don Evans. Hogarth has headed up NMFS as Acting Assistant Admini-strator since January, during which time he has held workshops to make compliance easier and information more accessible and to improve the regulatory process. Hogarth has experience with controversial fisheries-management issues and is an expert on commercial and recreational fisheries, protected species and habitat. Since 1994, Hogarth has held a variety of NMFS positions, including Chief of the Highly Migratory Species Division and as both Southwest and Southeast Regional Administrator.
