Simrad Yachting, owned by Navico, and marine-stereo maker Fusion have debuted a new audio hub and docking station for recreational boats called Simrad SonicHub (a similar product was also introduced by Navico’s Lowrance brand). This new system, compatible with Simrad NSE multifunction units, gives boaters total audio control on their electronics display screen. SonicHub features an AM/FM tuner and an internal, waterproof docking station for iPhone and iPod devices, including Touch, Nano and Classic as well as other USB MP3 players. The secure docking station cushions the player against damage from rough seas or traveling at high speeds. Select songs by artist, song, playlist, album or genre via the NSE. With Simrad NSE’s video input, users can run iPod video content on the display. SonicHub also features a 50watt amp and incorporates multi-zone technology, providing independent volume and sound control in as many as three areas on board. The system is NMEA 2000 compatible and costs $399. Call 800-628-4487, or visit www.simrad-yachting.com.
