Lowrance announced anastounding price drop on its popular GPS/mapping system, the GlobalMap100. This 12-parallel-channel GPS unit was first introduced tothe marketplace 18 months ago, and retailed for $449. It’s nowoffered at the incredibly affordable price of just $199.

Simple to operate, thispocket-sized unit features a built-in background map of the worldwith enhanced details of coastlines. The mapping capabilitiescan be further enhanced with the purchase of Lowrance’s optionalIMS MapCreate Marine and Recreation CD-ROM. This CD contains allthe U.S. coastal navigation aids and U.S. Wrecks and Obstructionsmonitored by the U.S. Coast Guard.

Navionics electroniccharts are also now available for use with the GlobalMap 100.These charts comprise the world’s largest “seamless”marine chart database, and are compiled from over 15,000 nauticalcharts. And with a memory capacity of up to 1,750 user-selectableposition points, the GlobalMap 100 can store up to 750 waypointsand 1,000 graphic event location markers.
