Furuno NavPilot 500 Autopilot

furunp_navpilot.jpg

The Furuno NavPilot 500 offers automatic vessel control for inboard- and outboard-powered boats under any wind and sea conditions. The NavPilot provides automatic steering in several modes when the unit is integrated with the appropriate navigation sensors. The autopilot uses an algorithm to adjust to such parameters as vessel speed, trim and draft, as well as tide, wind and weather effects. The NavPilot 500 also uses Furuno’s FishHunter, which maneuvers the vessel in either an orbit or cloverleaf pattern around targets when a compatible sounder or radar unit pinpoints a desirable target, such as fish or bird activity. The unit displays system and steering data on a 4.6″ LCD and has various alarms including deviation, speed, depth and temperature, with appropriate sensors. The autopilot can steer a course programmed into an interfaced Furuno NavNet radar/chart plotter. The NavPilot 500 comes with a waterproof control unit, processor unit and rudder reference unit and sells for $2,995. Furuno, Camas, WA; (360) 834-9300; www.furuno.com.
