At the Miami Boat Show in February, West Marine debuted a line of technical gear and casual apparel, including the men's lightweight Typhoon Jacket and the heavier-duty sixth generation of men's and women's Third Reel Foul Weather Gear. Typhoon features a breathable membrane laminated between two fabric layers. Breathable fabrics allow water vapor, but not liquid, to pass through. Typhoon's coated shell prevents water intrusion. In sizes M to XXL and in black, gray, red, ocean blue and fuchsia, the jacket costs $129. Third Reef jackets and bibs are 100 percent water and windproof yet offer full range of movement and ventilation. Features include a foldaway hood, gusseted cargo pockets, zippered hand-warmer pockets and adjustable cuffs. In sizes M to XXL, the men's jackets come in red, yellow, navy or steel; bibs come in yellow or navy. In sizes S to XL, the women's jackets come in red, navy, white and fuchsia; bibs come in navy. Jackets cost $129; bibs cost $109. Call 800-262-8464, or visit www.westmarine.com.
I've always been a The North Face Jacket kind of guy for the outdoors but for fishing i do normally use West Marine stuff, as i'll often wear my North Face stuff when i go out and about. I do have a couple of gio goi jackets for fashion wear. But they would be hopeless out in the field keeping you warm and stuff
