Bubba Blade brings a cutting-edge approach to the fish knife with the introduction of its Flex and Stiffie fillet knives. Both models feature a 9-inch Teflon-coated steel blade, a full-tang, a 6-inch nonslip thermoplastic-polymer handle wrapped in synthetic rubber with thumb and finger pads, and a trigger grip and safety guards to protect your fingers from the blade and fish spines. The Flex fillet knife, with its flexible blade, is designed for filleting and boning duties on medium-size fish like cobia, snapper and grouper, while the Stiffie is fitted with a beefy 2 millimeter blade for quartering, carving, boning and filleting larger fish like tunas, swordfish and dolphin. Each knife comes with a Velcro strap holster. As Bubba says, “One cut and you’re through.” $64.95; www.bubbablade.com
I just bought the two 9 in. versions of the Bubba Blade. They are both very fine nives and seem to hold up to the larger fish that I catch on the coast in tx. They do take a bit to get use to. last week I used them to fillet out 25 crappie and a large bluegill. They work like a champ now that I have taken the time to get use to them. My final comment Is for those who cannot answer a simple question and who would badmouth a blade they niether own nor have taken seriously. If you can sharpen your own knives and can handle the mid price range The bubba blade will serve you well for many years. If you can't sharpen a knife buy a cutco or an electric fillet knife and enjoy the fishing where ever it may take you.
