20' Young - custom manufactured boat in Inglis, FL by the Young Family. Probably 300-400 out there of 3 different models. This is the greatest boat I've ever owned. Runs in less than a foot of water and we are comfortable taking it 30 miles out in the gulf. Safest all around boat I've ever been in. We bought our 2007 used and just had Young do a partial restoration. A phenomenal fishing boat for in and near offshore and there is no production boat anywhere than can compare.
Omie Tillet's Sportsman. This boat is the one that started the signature Carolina look. Without it many on the list wouldn't be there I.e. Spencer, Scarborough, Paul Mann, and Buddy Davis. He did as much for sport fishing boats as Rybovitch did I'm my opinion.
25 SeaVee, nothing else in its class rides or handles like it.
apparently the reader that didn't "waste his time" reviewing it, didn't waste time reading it either, since there was not 1, but TWO Boston Whalers on the list. I was assuming the 31 ft Bertram would be number 1 though, more practical than a super expensive Merrit.
Great list. I couldn't care less if they built 1 or 100 - the best is still the best.
ok, Boston Whaler is number #3 with the orginal Nauset (become the Montauk) and #50 with the 13... not to bad.
Steiger 25 anyone.?
ANY list which omits Boston Whaler is immediately BOGUS....I don't need to review and waste my time!
How can you call a model, which stopped production decades ago with only 11 boats made, the #1 top sport fishing boat of all time?
I understand the boat was used in obtaining some records, but it was the captain and crew that obtained those records, not the boat.
Cannot believe you would omit the Boston Whaler 17' Montauk - whoever put this list together must have previously worked for our government, compiling statistical info. Screams of lack of credibility
No offense to who ever put this list together but you missed some very important inshore boats that have changed fishing for life. First the number one boat on this list should be Boston Whaler's 17 Montauk which is the number one selling boat of all time. Second you never once mentioned any of Bill Kenner's boats and he was biggest innovator of the bay boat and made it what it is today. You have Pathfinder which was the first to really market a high end bay boat but you forgot about the ones who made that market happen. Lastly you never mentioned any Texas built boat such as the Majek boats or Shallow Sport boats who were pioneers in true flat skinny water fishing. I guess the HPX didn't deserve to be on the list either. This list should be broken down into two list seperating inshore from offshore IMO.
What happen to the forerunner of the Maverick Mirage. everyone had a Dolphin Super Skiff!
Owned one for 4 years . As most know , it is a great little hull .
I would have definitely included the 30 Renaissance Prowler among these. It's a beautiful fishing machine like no other, and my personal favorite after 30 years of tropical sport fishing

I owned a 1989 27' Albemarle & a 1994 28' Carolina Classic. I first met Mac Privott when I arrived at the Albemarle plant to pick up my 27 in September of 1988. When Mac formed Carolina Classic, I bought a 28' without ever riding in one based on my loyalty to his manner of doing business & have remained loyal to his brand since then. I now own a 25' diesel powered Carolina Classic & even though Mac (son, Keith, continues on) has retired, I fully expect I'll purchase another Classic in the next year or two.

You forgot one of the best, Shamrock!
Is that Ted Williams on the 34 Rybo "Sail Ahoy"?
What about the FIRST ONES BUILT? Capt. Ernal Foster of Hatteras built the first sportfishing boat in 1937. The Albatross and her two sister sportfishers (60+ years old) still fish today, original candycane bamboo outriggers and all! With all the great boats coming out of the Carolinas, the originals should have made the top 50 of ALL TIME!
