The small diameter and the stiffness of single-strand wire slices through the current better and lays flatter on the bottom than monofilament leader.
Wired Plugs: Many knowledgeable captains prefer a short wire leader when fishing for tunas using cedar plugs.
Short Trace: In most cases, a short trace of wire leader will suffice, adding extra security in many situations.
Wire works wonders for grouper and snapper, even in shallower waters.
Rasp Mouth: Snook and tarpon have raspy mouths that can clamp down on and wear through monofilament leader.
