K-Kat Sport Fishing Jersey Report

Captain Chris Devereaux sent in this report

Spring is finally here and the weather and the fishing are getting better every day. We have been seeing good numbers of striped bass and bluefish on both fresh bunker and clams.  The Ron Stroz charter had a great day earlier in the week with a red hot bite of 12 keeper bass up to 15 pounds. With three on at a time the boys had their limit in a half an hour. We also caught and released plenty of short bass and a few bluefish. Later in the week we took a break from the bass with the Jake Jakubik charter for a day of bottom fishing. I bounced around the wrecks and rock piles offshore Sandy Hook looking for ling (red hake) and blackfish. Found good action right away and filled the box with 65 ling to 5 pounds. We also caught and released some nice blackfish. During the weekend we had the Brian Cook charter out for some bunker chunking in the bay. We ended up with two nice keeper bass to 20 pounds and all the bluefish you could want. The striped bass fishing will only getting better as the large schools of bunker and the bigger bass move into the area as the water gets warmer. Hope to see you out there soon. www.kkatcharterboat.com
