Joan Goodman wins Women’s Fall Fly Classic

Jodie Reese of Homestead, FL fishing with Captain Jared Raskob took runner-up

The 3rd annual WFFC is a woman’s fly fishing tournament for bonefish, redfish, snook & tarpon. The women fished for three days out of the Lorelei and Islamorada Fishing Club. This year the anglers and guides departed from the dock at 7:00 a.m. returning by 5 p.m. in pursuit of the four species. The ladies battled difficult wind conditions during the competition. The angler – guide team with the most species released earns the Grand Champion award. There are also awards for the most releases of each species. Next year permit will be added to the eligible species for the WFFC.

Grand Champion and first time angler Joan Goodman of Pembroke Pines, FL fishing with Captain Chris Jones won with two species, six redfish and one snook released on fly. Joan received a beautiful Don Ray “Bones & Conch” and a custom fly reel by Kapusta Reels; Captain Chris Jones received an original Jorge Martinez. Joan and Chris also won Most Snook Releases.

1st Runner Up: Jodie Reese of Homestead, FL fishing with Captain Jared Raskob catching 10 redfish. Jodie received Al Barnes “Rosettes & Ibis”; Captain Chris received a Jorge Martinez print. Jodie and Jared also won Most Redfish Releases.
