NCMC: Take action to strengthen the prohibition on shark finning

The National Coalition for Marine Conservation is looking for help to keep the legislation moving

A newly exposed loophole in the Shark Finning Prohibition Act of  2000 prompted Rep. Madeleine Z. Bordallo (D-GU), Chairwoman of the  Subcommittee on Fisheries, Wildlife and Oceans (Subcommittee), to  take swift action to strengthen the U.S. shark finning ban. On April  9th, Rep. Bordallo introduced the Shark Conservation Act of 2008  (H.R. 5741) in the House of Representatives, and the bill is currently awaiting action from the Subcommittee before it can move to the  floor for a vote. The National Coalition for Marine Conservation needs your help to keep the legislation moving. Please contact your Representative in the United States Congress and ask him/her to support the Shark Conservation Act of 2008 with one critical addition — a requirement  that fishermen land all sharks with their fins attached.
