STALKING TACTICS
When searching for Bonefish, either by wading or from a flats skiff, try to put the sun to your back. One of the best aspects of bonefishing is that it's visual much of the time; you're actually casting to fish you've spotted. Bones have a habit of clouding the marl when feeding. These "muds", along with the occasional fish tail waving above the surface, indicate feeding fish. Once an individual fish or pod is spotted, approach the fish carefully. Try to cast 15 feet in front of the fish if they are moving. If they are milling or rooting, cast the fly or jig to the edge of the cloud. Then twitch the artificial. When the bonefish strikes, simply raise your rod tip. Then it's usually "hang on" as line speeds from your reel.
