The newly launched Viking 48C inherits the strength of its larger siblings, but in a slightly downscaled package. Molded-fiberglass centerline fuel, waste and water tanks maximize capacity. The 16′ 6″ beam allows for roomy accommodations belowdecks, with a master suite forward and the option of a two- or three-stateroom layout aft.
The 130-square-foot cockpit sports a bait freezer, rigging station and tackle storage. Standard features include a recessed fish well, stereo speakers, four flush rod holders, a transom door and a one-piece, anodized-aluminum ladder to the flybridge. Powered by twin eight-cylinder, 800-hp MAN 2848LE403 diesels (standard), the 48C cruises at 29 knots and tops out at 34 knots. A twin ten-cylinder option provides a top speed of 38 knots.
