Southport 26 Center Console

southport_26.jpg

The new 26 Center Console from Southport Boat Works was designed specifically for heavier four-stroke outboard power. With a 22-degree, variable-vee hull designed by C. Raymond Hunt Associates, the 26 has a stable 9′ 6″ beam that allows it to carry twin four-strokes up to 500 total horsepower. Construction is 100-percent fiberglass, with unitized, foam-filled stringers and a level, self-bailing deck. The wide, flared bow has a generous rake and “clipper” stem, while the composite transom features a slight reverse design and handsome tumblehome. All hardware is through-bolted stainless steel, with stainless through-hull fittings above the waterline and bronze fittings below.

The 26 features a stand-up fishing station in the bow, along with forward port and starboard seating with cushions and insulated boxes with overboard drains. The anchor locker has room for a large anchor and a smaller “lunch hook.” The console houses a stand-up head compartment with standard VacuFlush system, and the dash is designed to accommodate the large displays of today’s single-screen electronics systems. Fishing features include a 40-gallon, above-deck live well with overboard drain; a removable, insulated fishbox with macerator and overboard pump-out; four flush-mounted rod holders, and a bait-rigging station with three tackle-storage compartments, insulated bait box, fresh water sink and cutting board. Other standard features include a T-top with life-jacket storage and spreader lights, recessed cleats and bow light, transom door, swim platform, hydraulic tilt steering, raw-water washdown and leaning post with below-seat storage. The 26 is available in a choice of five hull colors.
