A leader in the shallow-water fish-boat market, Maverick has launched a new “technical” poling skiff, the 18 HPX-V. The largest of the HPX models, the new skiff has a length of 18′ 2″, a beam of 7′ 4″, weighs in at 875 pounds and has a normal draft of only 10″. The 18 HPX-V is designed to serve the avid inshore fisherman as a large, ultra-shallow poling skiff, as well as a finely laid-out, detailed backwater boat.

The 18 HPX-V comes standard with a Yamaha F115 four-stroke engine, hydraulic steering, trim tabs, 18-gallon live well, 38-gallon fuel tank, forward storage locker, center console, under-gunwale rod storage, 16 rod tubes, seating cushions, under-gunwale carpet, flush-mounted pushpole holders and a poling tower.

Utilizing VARIS (Vacuum Assisted Resin Infusion System) manufacturing technology, the 18 HPX-V is a strong, lightweight skiff. With the strength of Kevlar, the weight savings and strength of carbon-fiber laminate and carbon-fiber hatch lids, the boat is blended with a keen understanding of fishing technologies, production processes and materials, from which the entire HPX series benefits. The new 18 HPX-V continues a long history of technical innovation and product superiority in technical poling skiffs. The HPX skiffs are designed for the serious shallow-water fisherman seeking stealth and quality when pursuing their targeted species.
