ICE BOX: A five-foot bait freezer is standard, plus there's the option of pumping ice to any of the monster, 328-quart deck boxes.
HIGH FLYER: Step up to the bridge to enjoy responsive controls, a commanding view and a huge electronics pod at the helm.
PERFECT PERCH: The mezzanine lounge under the flying bridge overhang is the ideal spot to keep watch over the bait spread, while the 164-square-foot cockpit awaits the action.
BON VOYAGE: A three-stateroom, three-head interior layout also sports a full galley, while an optional entertainment center adds non-angling possibilities.
ENDLESS SUMMER: A convex hull design, including a wave-cleaving bow, flat stern and propeller tunnels, lets the 64C surf through big water, yet ease into the shallows at remote anchorages.
COOL BREEZE: A forced-air induction system ventilates the engine room to keep the space cool and dry.
NONSMOKER: The underwater exhaust system holds the diesel "cough" and noise to a minimum.
The 64 convertible from hatteras Yachts combines angling features with a sea-taming hull-ideal for discriminating types who want to fish on a whim. Luxurious comfort is an added bonus. While not a convertible to buy during a mid-life crisis, this boat will fulfill your passion for big game.

We blasted through Palm Beach Inlet to test the boat's mettle along Sailfish Alley. The optional 1,800-horse Caterpillar C32 diesels moved the boat 36 miles per hour at 2,340 rpm-firewall throttle. Pulling back to cruise, we registered 30 miles per hour while burning 130 gallons per hour. At that pace, the 64C can range more than 400 miles.

The sailfish were scattered, but the dolphin couldn't resist our trolled baits. Even with a huge spread, this cockpit has plenty of room for multiple hookups. And the 64C can be equipped to meet any angling desire. Hatteras Yachts; (252) 633-3101; www.hatterasyachts.com
