Serious anglers will love the 350's rigging setup. A large tackle center to port includes a mixed four-drawer combo for gear and terminal tackle, along with another open storage compartment. The freshwater sink and prep surface includes a cutting board that stays put with magnetic fasteners. A 2-cubic-foot bait freezer and 4-cubic-foot insulated drink box are easily accessible on the aft starboard bridge deck.
The standard 5 kW Westerbeke generator is mounted in the lazarette. The bilge deck is finished with a large diamond nonskid pattern similar to truck tool boxes. It's repeated on the engine splash well for nonslip footing.
As you'd expect from a company that formerly made tops for others, the integrated hardtop on the 350 is one of the most elaborate available. It includes a tempered-glass windshield on three sides, with tilt-out side and upper forward vents. Headroom inside is NBA-esque, 6 feet 11 inches at the highest point. Multiple overhead lights provide illumination. In addition to the overhead rod rack, there's a rocket launcher on the top's aft edge, rod holders on the side, and covering boards and another rack across the transom. Chances are, you won't be able to fill them all.
The starboard helm is equipped with a convertible captain's chair with flip-back bolster. Tilt hydraulic power steering is standard, along with a touch-screen E-Plex digital monitoring system. The gray gelcoated console cuts down on reflected light, while the dedicated electronics panel provides room for convenient flush mounting.
A tinted sliding Plexiglas door leads to the spacious cabin below and its yachtlike amenities. The roomy midberth is located underneath the helm deck. A V-berth forward, with a hi-lo filler table, includes a privacy curtain. Numerous port lights and the overhead bow hatch provide natural light and breezes, while recessed LED lighting keeps the spaces bright after dark. For those sweltering dog days of summer, a dual air-conditioner system provides relief for the cabin and bridge. A full galley, enclosed head with shower and lots of storage complete the cruising functionality.
Bob Dougherty and his son Stephen (Everglades' president) have two Innovation Awards from the National Marine Manufacturers Association on their trophy shelf. After testing the 350 Express, I'd say they better make room for another one.
