Marlin, Salt Water Sportsman and Sport Fishing magazines again sponsored the Big Game Room during the 2010 Miami International Boat Show.
"The Miami Boat Show staff has done an excellent job of promoting the size and scope of saltwater fishing market in the Southeast and around the Keys and the Caribbean," said Glenn Hughes, group publisher of Fly Fishing in Salt Waters, Marlin, Salt Water Sportsman and Sport Fishing magazines. "We again feel privileged to sponsor the Big Game Room and all it represents to the industry and the fishermen attending."
Began as the dream of Jimmy Loveland, a big-game tournament organizer in St. Thomas, and Joanne Zito, sales manager for the MIBS during the 2004 show, the Big Game Room became a major attraction and tradition of the show. Many boaters, conservation groups, celebrity anglers, captains, boating company executives, accessory manufacturers and other sporting enthusiasts gather in the Big Game Room to socialize and swap information on boating trends, new products and old stories.
During the past four years, sport-fishing aficionados from the United States, Australia, Africa, Europe and elsewhere swapped stories in the Big Game Room. Celebrities including Manny Puig, Norm Isaacs, Chris and Melissa Fischer, Bouncer Smith, Ron Hamlin and Peter Wright joined the activities.
On the Big Game Room Seminar Stage, people participated in various educational seminars on topics like boat handling, bait rigging, knot tying and fishing international hot spots. Besides seminars and celebrities, visitors were able to sign up for Marlin University and network with Marlin, Salt Water Sportsman and Sport Fishing editors and staff.
