Hawaii Fishing in February (2011) Proves Productive for Blue Marlin Once Again-Shortbilled Spearfish Showing up in Good Numbers

Kona Hawaii Fishing Report for Kona - February 2011

February 2011 once again proved to be a good month for anglers fishing out of Kona Hawaii. While the previous two months both produced blue marlin over 1,000 lbs, the top three blue marlin weighed in tipped the scales at 907 lbs, 658 lbs and 654 lbs respectively. In total 29 blue marlin were weighed in and another 30 blue marlin were tagged by charter boats running out of Kona Hawaii.

The spring months prove to be the best for short billed spearfish here in Hawaii, and February kicked things off with 69 spearfish being caught or tagged out of Kona according to the Charter Desk. In addition to the blue marlin and spearfish caught this month, Kona charter boat captains also produced 7 ahi tuna, 1 sailfish and 106 striped marlin for their clients.

Don't forget, Kona hosts a number of fishing tournaments here in Hawaii each year.
