June tarpon fishing in the lower Key’s much improved over May slow start

Bang up time fly fishing and plug slinging both day and night produced lots of strikes

After 30+ years of Tarpon fishing in the lower Florida Keys I was in shock in early May when the numbers of fish were way off the usual spring on-slot.
AWOL early on , June tarpon fishing has been stellar with plenty of small tarpon traveling in the large spawning migration.

Great weather all month also helped a great deal, we all know how our Tarpon pal’s love hot and humid.

Night fishing with fly rod and spinning tackle was super because of the light winds all month, Gurgler Fly’s and surface plugs bring explosive strikes.

A few more weeks before a slow down in the action, crossing fingers!
