Holden Beach, NC Fishing Report 8-18-09

Spanish/Kings

Last thursday, we had a full day charter. We started at the 90's, with no luck. After that, we fished the 410/510, with a great bite of jumbo spanish, with a 12 between 4 and 5 lbs. We wanted to find kings, so we fished the Jungle next. In about an hour, we put 7 in the boat up to 15 lbs., and 2 mahi-mahi as well. All in all, not a bad day. Yesterday, we went spanish fishing on a half day trip. We managed 45 spanish, and one blacktip shark release. We also saw several king mackerel skying up through the spanish schools, which were about 3 miles off the beach. This is a good sign that the kings are here on the beach. Tommorow, I'm going grouper and african pompano fishing, and thursday, I'm going to king fish on the beach, so stay tuned.
