Marlin Bite Heats Up!

Mahi, Marlin and New Tackle

This Past two week has been slower on the dock as far as the amount of boats going out however the fishing has been consistent and the Marlin bite has heated up. The Mahi Mahi have been around are still running about 30 Miles out. One of the boats went 6 for 7 on sailfish and missed 2 Marlin but caught and released a nice 250 pound blue marlin. All the boats have at a handful of Sailfish and Dorado and at least half the boats that have been going out have had a shot at a Marlin.

Inshore the Sardines had been moving south down by Quepos. One of the inshore boats headed down that way and hooked up with 5 roosterfish on a half day trip. The afternoon rains have been filling the rivers and pushing the live bait out of safety and the bite has picked up.

Captain Dana on the "Whoos Your Daddy" purchased Two Nomad Dogtooth Stickbaits and we are waiting to see how he does with them. We know that out of 200 days trolling these lures represented 40% of the fish we caught. You can get yours at www.Flyandfishtackle.com along with many new vertical jigs from M&W Jigging and Jigging Master along with new B-1 Blue and Silver anodized aluminium split ring pliers.
